QTS-1 Array Instrument

The QTS-1 is a compact, easy to use 8-sensor array measurement system that is to generate chemical profiles of samples. The sample may be contained in either sample jars or vials or introduced from an external sampling system. The profiles are processed in software and compared to an on-line library for rapid identification. The results may be displayed in a number of different ways ranging from similarity maps to simple yes/no identification. A typical general method would involve creating a library of response patterns for acceptable standards (a statistically significant population) e.g. food flavours, taint free plastics etc. and then to use the library to ascertain whether the unknown sample is the same or different, close or far from the standard population. The resulting method is a powerful quality control tool capable of rapidly identifying atypical samples.

The background to the development of the system can be explored by following the links to the left of this text.
